I enjoy pretty things… And when I say pretty… I don’t necessarily mean girly or dainty– but I do like those things too. I’m talking about aesthetics. Aesthetically pleasing concepts, aspects, design, textures. It feeds my brain because I am constantly analyzing my surroundings… As a photographer, I never shut my brain off. I purchase things, eat foods, and vouch for companies based on packaging, marketing, and branding. It’s sad. I am a shallow, shallow person… but that is what my career has trained me to do– find the pretty in everything.

As humans, we are driven by our senses. We enjoy eating, the smell of cookies, the sound of music (well personally… not the musical), the softness, … etc. But sometimes we neglect the sense that is undefinable by what is concrete. The sense of connection… feeling conscious and being aware of our emotions. Sometimes we can love or even hate something… so much, but we can’t pin down why. It makes us feel a certain way that our brains can’t quite wrap around.

Well.. this is what Ember does to me. I’m not sure if it’s the positive association I have with the owners, the instructors, the sense of accomplishment of challenging my mind and my body during a yoga class, or if it’s the over all experience and the nurturing of of all my senses… but I really enjoy being at the studio– when I can find the time.

A few weeks ago… and when I say weeks… I mean a couple of months ago I did a yoga shoot for the owner’s Jeff and Margaret and instructor Astrid. Here are a few from the day!

Just a little insight into my editing world… I edit with a huge smile on my face… all day long. I smile every time I color correct a photo and there is an unmistakable feeling I get that can describe without words how in love my couples are. It’s the moments in between instruction and changes of lenses… when two people are isolated from the world and all that exists is what’s in front of them. It makes my heart flutter. It exists… and every day is a better day knowing that.

So… without a do… the reason for my utterly romanticized view of the world— why at this moment in time I am floating in la la land… and I live in a world that consists of rainbows and leprechauns and unicorns that poop sunshine…

Meet Josh & Rachel. They are smitten.

I chose Josh & Rachel’s Ketubah Signing photos for their Sneak Peek because this is when they got to see each other for the first time before their ceremony. It’s a very intimate family setting and there was such a vibrant glow on each of their faces.

Of course– More to come! :)

Weddings! | Laurie & Doug are hitched!! | Atlanta Wedding Photography

June 7th, 2011

Laurie & Doug are from Colorado— and are two of the most laid back people I have ever met! I met Laurie for the first time at the Flying Biscuit with her awesome mom, Ann. I remember her saying “the most important thing about my wedding is…” — and I thought to myself— “of course, [...]

Laurie & Doug are from Colorado— and are two of the most laid back people I have ever met! I met Laurie for the first time at the Flying Biscuit with her awesome mom, Ann. I remember her saying “the most important thing about my wedding is…” — and I thought to myself— “of course, the photography!!”… RIGHT?  Her words… “THE CAKE! Everything else can be crap… well except the photography….” And at that moment, I knew she was my kind of girl. The detail oriented, cake loving, photography appreciating, ANTI-bridezilla of my dreams!

She and Doug are a match-made in heaven! They are so sweet and so genuine with each other. They had such a deep understanding for each other and for what relationships should be about– loving the other for who they are and not trying to change anything about them. So sweet!

Their beautiful and intimate wedding was located at the fabulous Chateau Elan Resort and Winery in North GA.

Being a part of their day was an absolute pleasure!

Here are some of my favorites to recap their day!
Enjoy.

June 6th, 2011

On mother’s day, Patty, Kevin, Isaac, and their entire clan made it out to Piedmont for a picnic! This family made a recent move to Shanghai, and wanted to capture some special moments before their visit was over. These are a few of my favorites! Enjoy!

June 3rd, 2011

Carlie and Justin are awesome! They were troopers waking up at 4:ooam and driving out to Helen with me! We had the most amazing breakfast at a little biscuit shack and stumbled upon this gem of scenery. The lighting was perfect. I couldn’t have spent the day with a cooler couple!!
