Last year I had the absolute pleasure spending a couple of hours for a maternity shoot with two gorgeous expecting parents— Danielle and JD. One year later… I finally get to meet their little man Jaxen and he is absolutely adorable! We were lucky enough to plan a quick shoot the day before his first birthday party. Danielle wanted to make sure we capture a few shots with Jaxen and his favorite things…. some of which included a duck, bottle caps, and the iPad…  Already we have so much in common! We both get cranky when we’re hungry, tired, and we both drool over Apple products.

There are definitely more to come… but enjoy a few that caught my eye early on. :)

Sneak Peek! | Hutson is 6 months old! | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

February 1st, 2012

I can’t believe how quickly babies grow! It seems like just yesterday I was taking photos of baby who could barely hold his head up and keep his eyes open. Now he’s sitting up right, ever so attentive, and blissfully happy! Oh to be a baby again! Here’s a quick sneak of a peek!

Sneak Peek! | Hutson turned 3 months!! | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

Babies are an amazing thing. They enter this world with a clean slate. They have tiny little hands and feet and tiny little ears and eyes. They have just enough to sense that there is a world going on around them– but they are oblivious to what that concept actually means. I always get so [...]

I always get so sentimental when I blog about babies. Maybe it’s my clock ticking away… or the thought behind what it is to start a life; to enter this world; to begin a journey; to build a personality; to love; to hate; to feel anything; and to experience everything. Life is a poetic thing and beginning a lifetime is absolutely magical…

I was lucky enough to be one of the few to meet Hutson within days of his birth and experience the excitement and the joy around his arrival. Here are a few of my favorites from my experience that day along with a few from his 3mo shoot. He is growing so fast!

Family Shoot | The Spengler’s | Atlanta Portrait Photography

June 6th, 2011

On mother’s day, Patty, Kevin, Isaac, and their entire clan made it out to Piedmont for a picnic! This family made a recent move to Shanghai, and wanted to capture some special moments before their visit was over. These are a few of my favorites! Enjoy!

For mother’s day, the Spengler’s enjoyed a picnic out at Piedmont Park. It was the perfect day to chill and enjoy the weather. Since Patty, Kevin, and Isaac just made a recent move to Shanghai, they wanted memories to take back with them. Here is one of my favorites from their session. Isaac— what a [...]

And this was the cap to our day! I think he was exhausted, but cute as a button with those glassed tear filled eyes.

I enjoy being around babies. And I don’t mind when they cry. I don’t stop shooting when they do. I realized, it’s ok for their babies to cry. That is what they do! For a small fraction of their lives, they get to let go of all of their sorrows in the form of tears. I’m hungry. Cry. I’m tired. Cry. I poopooed my pants. Cry. And for the rest of their lives, they must deal with the complicated, twisted, multifaceted chaos, known as the real world. So I always like to keep a photo of your baby crying, because in that moment, they are living in a state of pure simplicity– a state in which they will probably never get to experience again.

Enjoy.
